As Christmas approaches, we’ve put together a selection of vegetarian menu ideas that can be prepared and enjoyed by those who are fasting for religious reasons, and by those people who avoid meat because of health or environmental issues.
In the first part of our series, you could read about festive menu dishes made with brown champignon.
Now we continue our vegetarian-dish-proposals, this time with oyster mushrooms.
Oyster mushrooms are among the most popular cultivated mushrooms worldwide due to their delicious, special, oyster-like flesh. In Germany, some people call them “veal mushrooms”, indicating that it is considered as a source of high-quality protein as is the veal among meats.
Like all mushrooms, oyster mushrooms are low in cholesterol and fats, so they can also be included in special diets, for example people suffering from diabetes or hypertension can also consume them.
